Boxilates – Boxing and Pilates – in Brisbane – it has arrived! The latest addition to the FABulous Pilates and Yoga extensive timetable.

In all the excitement we’ve been asked so many questions – What is Boxilates? What is the format of the class? Do I need to do the Boxilates orientation workshop? Do I need to be a boxer or have a boxing partner? Can I bring my boy/hub/bro? What else do I need? 

Boxilates is as it sounds – a FABulous combo of Boxing and Pilates. It’s the perfect fusion of cardio, strength and mind-body connection. Boxilates is an interval style workout that marries the functional benefits of Pilates (longer, leaner muscles and increased joint health and mobility) with the high intensity cardio and coordination of boxing.

Depending on what the instructor has in mind, the class format is as follows –

6-8 mins mat Pilates warmup – expect a full body warmup in a strong Pilates style

ding ding – “hit the ropes”

10-15 mins Round 1 Boxing – jab, jab, jab cross jab, etc, etc, sparring with a boxing partner

ding ding – “hit the mats”

8-12 mins mat Pilates – watch out – this could be pure core, pure glutes, or BOTH!

8-15 mins Round 2 Boxing – coordination, agility and CARDIO

 

Cooldown for up to 5 mins and then “hit the showers”

There is a complimentary Boxilates workshop every Sunday at 10:30am with Marian. It is a ‘MUST DO’ before your first Boxilates workout – to teach you great boxing technique! So you don’t need to be a boxer. In fact you don’t need to have boxed before. You certainly can bring your guy – you will both be matched with someone very similar to you and your experience.

Bring a towel and a water bottle. We supply boxing gloves and pads. You’ll also need a pair of boxing glove inners – we sell them, only $5.

Attend the workshop then jump on the FABulous Pilates and Yoga App and book your first class. Tuesday 6:45am Lisa, Wednesday 9:30am Christina, Thursday 12:30pm Lachie, Friday 4:30pm Ellie, Saturday 10am Linda and Sunday 6:30am Sarah Joy.

Sorry it’s not on the beach like the You Tube video – but it will be just as much fun!
